Press release of the Anti-Corruption Council

December 09, 2020

On the International Anti-Corruption Day on December 9 this year, the Anti-Corruption Council of the Government of the Republic of Serbia will not award the “Verica Barać” award for individual contribution to the fight against corruption in Serbia.

Unfortunately, the Covid 19 pandemic, which has been going on for ten months, has affected the lives of all citizens and prevented the usual activities related to the award ceremony.

The Council has returned all its available funds, including one-month fees, to the Budget of the Republic of Serbia as its contribution to the fight against this pandemic, and is not able to organize a public and ceremonial award ceremony.

The Council is convinced that it has a large number of deserving individuals who unreservedly fight corruption and shows respect for their efforts. We hope that the circumstances will enable us to award the prize next year.

The Council carries out its usual activities and publishes its reports.
